L. Phillips Runyon III

Phil received a BS in business administration from Washington and Lee University in 1969 and graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1972.  Since then he has practiced in Peterborough for over 40 years, currently as the principal of Runyon Law Office, PLLC. 

 In 1990, Governor Judd Gregg appointed Phil as presiding justice of the Jaffrey-Peterborough District Court, now the 8th Circuit - District Division - Jaffrey, where he served on a part-time basis until April 2017.  In addition, he has been an adjunct faculty member in the MBA program at Franklin Pierce University.  Phil holds memberships in the American and New Hampshire Bar Associations and before the United States Supreme Court.   


Phil and his wife Cathie have been active in many community and area non-profit organizations, including the Peterborough Players, Dublin School, Sharon Arts Center and Monadnock Chorus, and they were the 1993 Peterborough Citizens of the Year.
